Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Safety Screener (PSS), you will work an entry screening station within the hospital. You will screen all incoming individuals to ensure the patient and staff environment is free of potential exposure to respiratory illnesses and infectious diseases.

  • You will be responsible for monitoring all individuals entering the facility and remain physically present at your assigned entry point
  • You will screen all entrants according to established guidelines, utilizing approved screening methods, including verbal screening and temperature assessment
  • You will report any concerns with screening or entrant condition promptly
  • You will provide guidance to patients and visitors and assist with directing patients, traffic, and/or monitoring in remote location
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and respect of patient rights to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality
  • You clearly and accurately document screening results as stated by CDC and facility protocols
  • You will comply with protocols for hand hygiene, aseptic, and sterile techniques

What qualifications you will need:


Experience

  • Previous experience in an healthcare setting – preferred

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent – preferred

Certifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – preferred
