Summary
Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs and uniqueness of assigned patients. Is responsible for the delivery of quality care and service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.
Education
High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Current CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkview’s Patient Care Foundation’s course at the time of hire
- 2 years experience in a healthcare related field, training time will be determined based on experience
- Currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations; if hired prior to 12/3/18, 2 years military medical experience will be accepted
- If candidate is at least 18 years of age but does not yet have a current high school diploma/GED, must meet the following requirements:
- Must be actively working towards high school diploma/GED and received within 1 year of hire AND have current CNA license OR have participated in a Health Occupations Education (HOE) program.
Licensure Certification
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education [two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role; OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN), having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)]. If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center, PCTs must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire.
Experience
Prefer one year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to attend three (3) days of New Hire/Patient Care/EPIC Orientation. Typical Orientation schedule is Monday (All Day), Tuesday (All Day) and Thursday (PM).
