Facility Description:Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute is a 380-bed acute-care hospital offering a full range of services. Lawnwood is home to the most experienced Heart Institute on the Treasure Coast providing interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery. Other hospital services include adult and pediatric emergency services, labor/delivery and birthing, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, diagnostic services, as well as inpatient and outpatient surgical services.
Lawnwood is designated by the Joint Commission as a Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Physical Rehabilitation Center is CARF accredited and we are designated a Level II Trauma Center by the Florida Department of Health and verified by the American College of Surgeons. We also offer a freestanding ER in Vero Beach providing emergency treatment for adults and children closer to home. Job Description:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of the RN and performs a variety of duties within the perioperative services department. The PCT is responsible for transporting patients within the perioperative area, as needed. Responsible for maintaining the surgical suites in a clean, safe and organized condition. General cleaning tasks to maintain assigned areas in the perioperative services department. Assists in moving/positioning patients and maintaining departmental supplies. The PCT will also transport specimens, lab and pharmacy items and equipment to and from surgery and other departments. All duties should be done in a timely and conscientious manner. The PCT is responsible for ensuring effective communication with the circulator, patient, surgeon and other members of the surgical team. The quality of work will be in keeping with the philosophy, objectives and policies of the hospital and the Department of Nursing.

Qualifications



  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association) as a Healthcare Provider
  • 6 months housekeeping experience in a healthcare or hotel setting preferred
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Working knowledge of operating room environment preferred
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
