The Multiskilled Patient Care Tech/Secretary, under direct RN supervision is responsible for performing specified tasks related to the care and well being of patients.
These responsibilities may vary based on the Business Unit in which they work and may include but are not limited to: obtaining and documenting patient information; assisting in daily living activities; lifting, moving and transporting patients; management of drainage bags and associated documentation; providing personal care and feeding assistance as necessary; specimen collection; and preparing patients for or assisting in the preparation of patients for various tests and/or procedures.
Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction (patient, family, physician, others), maintaining patient confidentiality and being sensitive to the age specific patient needs for comfort, privacy and generalized care. Incumbents of this position will annually complete the attached competency requirements specific to their area(s) of responsibility.
Qualifications
State of CT Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
One year job related experience in an acute care facility
Experience in phlebotomy and performing EKG tests
Completion of all competencies with respect to areas of responsibility
Valid CPR certification or ability to complete upon hire
Computer systems proficiency
Prior experience with working clerical/pre-admissions/discharge functions in a health care setting
