Patient Care Coordinator & Patient Services Specialist Supervisor (Full-Time, Day Shifts). The PCC/PSS Supervisor supervises Patient Service Specialists and Patient Care Coordinators in the MICC and/or other assigned staff and coordinate patient's entry into and through the health care system. With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, perform regular rounding, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action. Under administrative direction, coordinate the delivery of medical care for MICC patients in conjunction with ultrasound, cardiology, Seattle Children’s, neonatology, anesthesiology, and other specialty partners.
Responsibilities:Supervise assigned staff ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, insurance and other financial requirements, and hospital policies and procedures;Assist staff in resolving patient care problems;Make initial contact and provide information to the patient or the referring physician on behalf of a specific group of attending physicians;Act as primary liaison among the clinic/hospital, the patient and family, referring physician, outside agencies, staff from other hospitals and the general public by providing information and advice regarding hospital services;Oversee outpatient care by complex care coordination (scheduling surgery when needed), inpatient (delivery clearance when needed) and arranging diagnostic procedures and/or coordinating request for consultation among other medical specialties by following established protocols;Collect, assess, and prioritize information concerning the patient's medical status from the referring physicians and the community; determine need for urgent referrals and notification of urgent medical reviews, while assessing social and financial situation of patients;Greet patients and develop evaluation of areas of concern and anticipated needs first outpatient clinic including: insurance, personal escort, transportation, housing, support care, equipment needs, transfer of records, and reappointments with physicians;Maintains a safe and organized environment for patients, visitors, and staff through enforcement of Infection control measures and visitor policies in effectCoordinate all necessary aspects of patient calls and transfers to and from other appropriate disciplines in the MICC in a timely fashion; Answer live calls as much as possible and check voicemails throughout the dayConsistently demonstrates productive and timely communication with charge nurses, nursing staff, peers, patients, physicians, volunteers and other medical center departments and ancillary services.Make 1st attempt for each new referral letting patient know that it could be 24-48 hours to get a call back for scheduling the appointmentConsistently follows policies and procedures for routing calls to appropriate provider (nurse, MA, ultrasonographer, GC, provider)Ensure the outcome of treatment recommendations for continued care is conveyed to referring physicians;Receive patient complaints; obtain information and data from records and appropriate hospital staff; compose report for review and resolution, or personally resolve complaints on non-clinical issues and problems;Act as resource and technical consultant to physicians and providers on OB-GYN servicesPerform the work of PCC/PSS Supervisor dutiesIncrease collaboration between our PCC/PSS team through regular meetings and addressing overlap and delegation of duties between the two teamsOversee break and vacation coverage through equitable meansBe a liaison for ultrasound scheduling, Children's and specialty combo clinicsBe a liaison for Right Fax and ERHI (Electronic Health Record) teamsOversee the telemedicine program development and transition after D1Report out weekly AccuReg, phone calls, and referral numbers to administrationFollow up on No-shows and offer reschedule of appointment and/or provider notificationBe a liaison for FACT team of self-pay patients as well as those that require prior authorization of visits and hospitalizationREQUIREMENTS:A Bachelor's Degree in a medically related or public relations field AND two years of experience as a Patient Care Coordinator
OR equivalent education/experience.
