These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential FunctionsReceives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety or when moving equipment that is necessary to perform essential functions; assists patients with Activities of Daily Living; reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN; operates unit equipment as required; runs unit errands as needed; maintains neat and clean stocked areas and patient rooms; cleans equipment between each patient use; assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer; keeps hallway clear of equipment; distributes water and ice; replaces needle buckets as needed; answers patient call lights promptly; maintains 24-hour urine collections; performs catheter checks, Accu-cheks, Incentive Spirometry, Trapeze Bar setup, and enemas; runs unit errands as needed; takes and records vital signs and weight; records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.); signs/initials documentation; assists with completion of daily flow sheet; demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adults, Geriatric; participates in orientation of new employees as assigned; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
