Summary:
Analyzes remittance advice to ensure accurate posting of rejections, payments, and contractual adjustments to patient accounts, both manually and electronically. Analyzes, investigates, and processes credit balance accounts for patient and third party refunds.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Training Required:
- Two (2) years experience in patient accounting or related experience which has provided knowledge of accounting processes.
- Light typing required
- Ability to pass Word and Excel tests administered by Human Resources.

- Ability to make good decisions and think independently
- Ability to work productively as part of a team to reach decisions and solve problems
- Good analytical skills necessary for problem solving and patient account resolution
- Working knowledge of hospital patient accounting procedures, computers, calculators, and other equipment used in the Patient Financial Services area. Diverse knowledge and experience in utilizing standardized PC software.
- Must maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and financial information.
- Ability to utilize the telephone.
- Represents Summa Health in a positive, professional, and ethical manner.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
- Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
- Intermediate MicroSoft knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
