This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) full-time, non-permanent Parks Interpretive Assistant position located at Dry Falls Visitor Center located in Grant County, WA.

State Parks cares for Washington's most treasured lands, waters, and historic places. Further, we connect Washington Citizens to their diverse natural and cultural heritage and provide memorable recreational and educational experiences that enhance their lives. This position supports the interpretive program for Dry Falls Visitor Center and Coulee Corridor Area Parks.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Act as interpretive resource for visitors.
- Greet tourists, students, and other organized groups.
- Participate in revenue generating activities and the collection of entrance fees.
- Present and assist in guided tours, campfire programs, slide, and movie presentations.
- Respond to questions and correspondence from visitors.
- Assist the Interpretive Specialist with research and reference work related to site interpretive master plan and educational outreach programs.
- Assist in maintenance of artifacts accession and inventory records.
- Assist with development of interpretive materials and exhibits.
- Assist in routine maintenance of site interpretive facilities and resources, trails, exhibits, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years of college training involving major study in Pacific Northwest history, American history, anthropology, geology, forestry, archaeology, ecology, or closely related field. **
- A valid unrestricted (except for corrective lenses) driver's license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently while using good judgement and problem-solving skills in decision making.
- Awareness and willingness to follow safety policies and protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

UNIFORM INFORMATION:
All Parks Interpretive Assistants are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of an Interpretive Specialist and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks employee. All Parks Interpretive Specialists will receive the same standard uniform that is issued to the Park Ranger series, to include: shirts, pants, shorts, headwear, sweater, belt, necktie, jacket and badge.
