Job Description
Position Summary
This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grant.

Works as a member of the Shelby County COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team, an interdisciplinary team tasked with reducing and, in time, eradicating the pandemic in Shelby County. Primary strategy implemented by the EMS Provider will be vaccine administration.

Grade 48H Minimum Qualifications
100.00% - 1. Two (2) years of full-time EMS experience as an Advanced EMT or Paramedic; and

2. Successful completion of an accredited Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Education Program.

3. Valid, unrestricted Tennessee Advanced EMT or Paramedic License.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assesses and monitors the immunization statuses of adults and children in accordance with medical safety standards and protocols of the Shelby County Health Department and Tennessee Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

2. Participates actively in COVID-19 related vaccination distribution.

3. Participates in a variety of public health strategies designed to reduce transmission of COVID-19 in Shelby County including, but not limited to data entry, patient education, and vaccine administration.

4. Informs supervisor of barriers to delivery of immunization services.

5. Discusses sensitive information to patients from diverse populations.
6. Administers first aid and emergency medical care to ill or injured individuals guided by standing orders and protocols.

7. Responds to Health Department Operation Center (HDOC) as needed.

8. Assists with assembly and disassembly of POD Stations.

9. Assures conservation of county, state, and federal resources by monitoring inventory and assisting in maintaining organization of stored medical supplies and medications as assigned.

10. Performs other related duties as required or directed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KSAs - 1. General knowledge of patient care principles and infectious disease management.

2. Knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique.
3. Ability to communicate sensitive information and provide patient education to a culturally diverse audience.

4. Ability to plan and work with others, and manage multiple priorities.

5. Ability to engage tactfully with the public and co-workers; exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

6. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly. Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid, unrestricted Tennessee Advanced EMT or Paramedic License.

2. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one upon date of employment.

3. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
