Position Summary:
Assumes the responsibility for providing complete maintenance and repair services to university facilities including but not limited to new construction, repairs, emergencies and preventive maintenance, related to all painting needs. Utilizing initiative and a variety of skills, the Painter is expected to take training, available resources, equipment, supplies to effectively and efficiently accomplish the functions assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain appropriate records
- Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
- Report the need for minor and major facilities repair.
- Assuring the equipment is operating in accordance with manufacture’s specifications.
- Read and applying diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacture’s specification’s to complete work.
- Service all building components including all physical, structure and mechanical equipment.
- Read directions and labels of all chemicals.
- Covering trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint
- Preparing primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure paint sticks
- Filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding
- Mixing and matching paint, stain and other finishes
- Hanging, prepping and painting sheetrock
- Perform work in confined spaces and climb ladders to perform duties related to work assignments.
- Operate forklift and aerial lift.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; <HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

Education/Experience:
- 3 years commercial or residential painting experience desired
- High School diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid NC Driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
- Be knowledgeable in the use of power tools, diagrams, and blueprints
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
- Knowledge of /Proficiency with /Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exercise independent/good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict/set deadlines
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
- Ability to work past regular working hours and the occasional weekend.
