Job Description

Job purpose
The Packaging Specialist is responsible for design, implementation, and management of all finished good packaging. This includes designing wood and metal crates for shipping equipment, and packaging solutions for smaller items to include hardware and manuals. The Packaging Specialist needs to understand how our products are shipped and how our dealers receive them.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Review issues concerning the performance of packaging, including issues reported outside of the warranty system. Actively seek information.
  • Appropriate sources of information to stay aware of industry packaging trends.
  • Develop concepts to improve crating performance. Develop methods of evaluating crates and quantifying improvements.
  • Perform cost-analysis. Provide reports detailing the cost-impact of crating improvements. Ability to understand the balance and trade-offs between cost, quality and performance.
  • Actively foster relationships with key stakeholders and resources both internal and external to the company.
  • Develop robust solutions and work to resolve problems quickly.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Technical Associates degree (2 year)
  • CAD and/or drafting skills
  • Prior experience with crating / packaging
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-Starter. Acts with a sense of urgency
  • Willingness and ability to understand customer needs and requirements
  • Initiative: Formulate ideas and solutions, develops testing methods, and proposes plans for full-scale implementation
  • Ability to multitask
  • English language competency and legible writing ability
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work with little to no oversight
