The Packaging Technician is responsible for operating machines to ensure that quality standards are consistently met, the line meets schedule attainment and line efficiency standards, the mechanical operations run smoothly and the line workers are directed properly. Packaging Technicians are skilled operators that can troubleshoot machine issues and work through all possible solutions prior to calling maintenance.

The Packaging Technician is responsible for operating machines to ensure that quality standards are consistently met, the line meets schedule attainment and line efficiency standards, the mechanical operations run smoothly and the line workers are directed properly. Packaging Technicians are skilled operators that can troubleshoot machine issues and work through all possible solutions prior to calling maintenance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Maintain, adjust, and clean equipment, and perform minor repairs.
- Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
- Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production.
- Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment.
- Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
- Adjust machine components according to size or spec of product.
- Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
- Capable and feel comfortable making minor repairs to high-speed packaging equipment.
- Shift expert on lines, may help teammates troubleshoot equipment when a line goes down or a machine is having consistent issues.
- Ensure efficient packaging by setting up work stations correctly and effectively.
- Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
- Knows how to operate, read and set adjustments on the automated computer screens.
- Stock and sort product for packaging machine operation, and coordinate the replenishing of packaging supplies such as film, WIP, boxes, clip strips, or ageless.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years’ experience operating machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience conducting general troubleshooting and repairs on machines.
- Food packaging experience preferred.
