Description/Job Summary

The P-Tech Coordinator develops long term organizational strategic goals and builds key customer relationships in City schools to support student achievements.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Develops and implements guidelines, standards and criteria related to the students' eligibility for enrollment in different types of college courses (based on partner college and specific college department guidelines), in concert with the high school staff and college's faculty;
  • Coordinates all activities related to college course-taking by high school students, including, but not limited to registration, course withdrawal, and the submission of final course grades and their dissemination to students, their parents, and to high school administrators in a timely fashion;
  • Creates and implements biannual orientation programs for students and parents, outlining expectations, procedures, policies and criteria for the students' successful completion of the college coursework;
  • Conducts parent outreach as it pertains to the college and career model and goals, which includes scheduling parent conferences when students are identified at "academic risk", and/or have been recommended for formal withdrawal from a college course. This information must also be provided to school administrators;
  • Creates and maintains student files, which include updated contact information, registration materials, student transcripts, state test results, and signed copies of student contracts (i.e., knowledge and agreement of student expectations and responsibilities in the successful completion of coursework, and in classroom behavior and participation);
  • Coordinates students' targeted intervention needs between the college partner and the high school staff academic and social support systems, such as tutoring, counseling, mentoring, assistance with completing any necessary applications, etc.;
  • Provides annual college financial aid workshop for parents to attend in late January/ early February;
  • Develops policies and procedures for students reporting and replacing lost and/or stolen ID cards and textbooks.
  • Communicates with stakeholders (college, school, employers, industry partners, parents) in the development of the partnership (e.g. newsletter, emails, policy manuals, student manuals, student contracts, and data reports);
  • Participates in Steering Committee and other related meetings to help shape school policies and decisions;
  • Increases awareness of the P-TECH 9-14 school partnership at the participating college in order to garner support and recruit college faculty and staff to participate in the school's activities, such as being a member of a Planning Committee, professional development, and curriculum development with the high school's teaching staff;
  • Communicates to college administrators, faculty and staff the special school events at the P-TECH 9-14 school campus;
  • Clearly and frequently communicates with the high school's principal and assistant principal, and your supervisor, preferably in person, to update them, request any major support and ask for input that is required from them;
  • Participates in school planning meetings that involve decisions related to college-course taking.

  • Expanding business partners to include new sales strategies, market and business growth plans, and managing the full cycle of sales and prospect development;
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network;
  • Present and consult with senior management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and distribution channels;
  • Develop long term organizational strategic goals and builds key customer relationships with partners to align with workforce industry;
  • Identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions;
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations of business/community leaders, students, faculty, and staff;
  • Strong problem-solving, coordination and negotiating skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking ability;
  • Basic knowledge of computer technology and software;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Ability to understand students course needs and promote course offerings in our College.

Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, Counseling or related field;
Experience:
  • Five (5) years' experience in developing business and strategic partnerships among organizations including the public sector, to support high school and college students in the community;
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible for coordinating and leadership experience in a Higher Education;
  • Five (5) years of experience coordinating services for high school students with Higher Education and community partners;

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's Degree in Business, Education, Counseling or related field;
Experience:
  • Seven (7) years' experience in developing business and partnerships among organizations;
  • Seven (7) years' experience working in K-12 and college students;
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible for coordinating and leadership experience in Higher Education;
