Job Purpose:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of various styles of commercial industrial doors and door operating systems, primarily overhead doors. This position primarily works as part of the CMC Field Maintenance Crew but will be required to have the skill and ability to troubleshoot and repair overhead doors. The CMC Field Maintenance Technician performs duties including various manual, un-skilled, and/or skilled tasks as required for mechanical piping, structural installation, pipe lifting, scaffold erection, sheet metal fabrication, pipeline insulation, rigging, in accordance with all client and company safety, environmental and operational practices, policies and procedures.
The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.
Essential Job Functions:
- Installs, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance of various styles of doors and door operating systems.
- Modifies existing doors and operating systems to comply with current fire and buildings codes.
- May be responsible for direct purchase of parts from vendors and manufacturers.
- Performs man lift operations and standard rigging, including rigging hand signals.
- Calculates balance, weight and cable lengths.
- Communicates with client on a frequent basis.
- Perform piping spool/valve installation and removal, rigging, blinding and minor pipe fitting.
- Perform manual labor including operating small hand tools and power tools. (buffer/grinders, reciprocating saws, drills, shovels, etc.), and carrying and lifting materials (cribbing, shoveling snow, and other activities).
- Perform heavy labor.
- Assist building scaffold with qualified scaffold builder.
- Performs manual labor supporting scaffolding activity, such as cleanup, hauling, stacking materials, shoveling, stacking pipe skids, moving supports, handling steel material and valves.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices and adhere to company and client safety policies and procedures for work performed, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation of task and accept accountability for safe work practices.
- Demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.
- Ability to work as a part of a team and follow work direction.
- Participate in JSA, pre-job walk-down and risk assessment.
- Routinely perform safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skilled in scissor lift / man lift operation and standard rigging practices including rigging hand signals.
- Ability to calculate balance, weight and cable lengths.

- Experience with direct purchase of parts from vendors and manufacturers.
- Must be able to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with client, fellow workers and alternate and demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate vehicles (Pickups, 12 foot flatbed trucks - F-550, 12 foot box van trucks – F-550) and equipment (i.e. Man lifts) in all season adverse weather or road conditions.
- Able to work in confined spaces and wear respirators.
- Basic hand power/took knowledge.
- Ability to interpret work instructions.

- Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
- Lift 40 lbs from floor to waist level x 2 with a 12 second interval.
- Lift 40 lbs from floor to shoulder level x 2 with a 12 second interval.
- Lift 40 lbs from floor to crown or overhead level x 2 with a 12 second interval.
- Carry: Carry 40 lbs with two hands for 30 feet x 2; Self-paced.(Allow a 60 second rest period between carry tests).
- Pull horizontally with a peak isometric force of 100 lbs with two hands.
- Push horizontally with a peak isometric force of 100 lbs with two hands.
- Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps per flight x 2 for a total of 24 steps, self-paced but continuous.
- Slanted Ladder: Climb up and down 10 rungs x 5 repetitions for a total of 50 rungs. Self-paced. (Allow a 60 second rest break after climbing up and down 25 rungs.).
- Repetitive Stoop Test: Perform from standing position, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees with hands reaching toward the floor x 5, self-paced, but continuous.
- Repetitive Kneel Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee, x 5 each knee.
- Repetitive Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 5.
- Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 5 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience installing commercial/industrial overhead doors.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by Worley auto insurer.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
- Equipment Certification must be obtained within 180 days of start date (i.e. man lift, scissor lift).
- Rigging Certification must be obtained within 180 days of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience installing commercial/industrial overhead doors.
- Petrochemical, oilfield or arctic experience.
- North Slope experience.
