POSITION SUMMARY
The Outdoor Recreation Adventure Program’s success depends on student involvement. The ORAP Student Coordinator & Trip Leader assist with program operations and development. These positions are designed to create opportunities for student leadership and growth, in areas such as program planning and facilitation of outdoor education & recreation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the health & safety of all program participants through supervision of ORAP room and indoor climbing wall
  • Assists with implementing HWS ORAP policies and procedures and department emergency protocols
  • Attends ORAP mandatory monthly staff meetings and trainings
  • Assists with program finances and semester budget proposals
  • Manages operations pertaining to the indoor climbing wall
  • Assists and oversees the organization and planning of trips and program workshops
  • Assist with the upkeep of the rental shop and equipment inventory
  • Develops and implements all promotional strategies
  • Helps facilitate program evaluations & assessments

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience or pertinent knowledge in outdoor education and recreation
  • Availability to work 2 to 4 weekly schedule ORAP room shift (8 to 10 hours per week) and some weekends (trips & events)
  • Certified in CPR/AED & First-Aid (department provides opportunities for students to obtain this certification)
  • Physically must able to lift objects weighing a maximum of 50lbs
  • Attentiveness to detail, good time management and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to learn, grow as a leader, work through conflict, and be a part of a team.
