GENERAL SUMMARY

The Operating Room Support Service Rep performs routine duties/transportation within the limits of documented training in caring for the hospitalized patient. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific principles when choosing appropriate equipment or transportation needs. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Performs routine duties documented training in the daily care of cleaning an Operating Room Suite and the transfer of equipment to Sterile Processing.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely transport patients of all ages to various departments in the hospital
  • Accurately cleans and prepares surgical suite after each case
  • Regularly performs safety checks on equipment and removes damaged equipment from service.
  • Immediately cleans equipment after every completed case
  • Correctly changes/replaces empty oxygen tanks
  • Consistently stocks instrument carts from sterile processing each morning
  • Correctly transports specimens to the lab and x-ray departments
  • Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized in an efficient manner
  • Serves as a role model for other technicians in professional practice and attitude
  • Completes other duties as assigned and proactively anticipates the needs of other team members

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must possess physical/emotional stamina
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with others

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School graduate or GED.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
