Job Description
May perform a variety of tasks related to order processing, material selection, surfacing, coating, finishing and facilities/maintenance.May perform the following duties depending on assigned function:
May perform lead duties in any of the above functions
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience in a production/manufacturing/assembly/optical laboratory-related environment
Experience in optical/factory equipment maintenance
Experience in a lens room environment
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasks
Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushing
Ability to recognize and distinguish colors
Ability to understand and follow procedures
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Ability to walk or stand up to 100% of the time

- Enter prescription data into the computer to initiate new orders, perform file maintenance tasks on the computer files and edit orders in the virtual LMS (lab management system)
- Create and maintain pricing and bar-coding records, analyze lens usage, resolve material quality issues, assist with procedure development, investigate alternatives using the LMS, maintain lens, frame, and processing parameters within the LMS, evaluate and identify trends in the rejects and breakages involving Rxs sent to a subcontract vendor, contact doctor offices to inform of delays and recommend substitutions
- Perform lens reject analysis, operate and calculate digitally designed calculations using the LMS and other software systems particular to manufacturers' product design, make adjustments to Rx calculations in LMS and communicate with customer service regarding delays and changes to Rxs, work with suppliers and vendors on diagnosing quality issues, perform in depth calibrations on machinery
- Responsible for all levels of coating, including hard coating and vacuum coating, maintain the vacuum chamber
- Edge lenses both manually and with robotics, perform hand fitting on lenses, drill or groove and mount all style lenses, manually inspects lenses for optical requirements, monitor and perform basic maintenance on robotic equipment, perform final inspection on completed Rx's, may function as a team lead
- Performs all of the duties within Level 4 Facilities/Maintenance, clean and maintain lab equipment, use maintenance software, complete work orders and adds P.M.'s (preventative maintenance) work orders, identify new machinery, update equipment records, schedule preventative maintenance, order and stock parts and supplies, conduct minor facilities and optical equipment repairs
