Optical Engineer

At Applied Materials, we are pioneering novel nano-photonic devices for applications in imaging, sensing, and computing. We are harnessing the power of Applied Material’s world-leading material science and nano-fabrication capabilities to enable the next generation of photonic devices.

In growing this start-up business we are seeking to hire an Optical Engineer with a MS or equivalent learning in optical engineering, physics, or electrical engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Run optical experiments for nano/micro photonic devices
• Data analysis for display related application
• Help setup customized optical inspection tool

Functional Knowledge

• Knowledge on optics, data analysis
• Proven industrial experience on optical design and metrology
• Expertise on free space optics setup, optical display, microscopy
• Proficient on Python/Matlab for data analysis, image process

Business Expertise

• Anticipates business and regulatory issues; recommends product, process or service improvements

Leadership

• Leads projects with notable risk and complexity; develops the strategy for project execution

Problem Solving

• Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions

Impact

• Impacts the direction and resource allocation for program, project or services; works within general functional policies and industry guidelines

Interpersonal Skills

• Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view
