Summary:
The Ophthalmology Technician supports clinical and research functions of department by preparing/performing assigned eye procedures on pediatric and adult patients under supervision of physician.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepares equipment and patients for ophthalmic testing procedures.
2. Assists physicians with performing various ophthalmic testing procedures.
3. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
4. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
2. Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
4. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
5. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’ degree is preferred. Completion of an approved Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant program required within the first year of employment.
2. Certification: Joint Commission on Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology certification or certification-eligible is required.
3. Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
4. Years of experience supervising: None
