Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Center Director

Location: Bellevue, WA

Schedule: Full-Time, 9:00am-6:00pm M-F, One Sat Morning per Month

Travel: Not Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure.
  • Measure visual acuity.
  • Take patient medical histories.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic medications.
  • Conduct visual field tests.
  • Operate, clean and maintain ophthalmic/surgical instruments, equipment and facilities.
  • Take measurements of the eye.
  • Measure lens power.
  • Assist physicians in performing surgical procedures.
  • Conduct ocular motility tests.
  • Communicate telephonically with patients regarding scheduling or to inquire about post-operative status or recovery.
  • Assist with Laser Vision Coordinator overflow.
  • Execute core processes.
  • Manage inventory process and order supplies.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. At least one year of experience as an ophthalmic, optometric, or medical technician preferred.

Language Ability:

Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to patients and colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.

Math Ability:

Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related medical and scientific measurements and calculations. Ability to calculate percentages. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to use logic. Ability to identify information by categorizing and recognizing differences or similarities.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry

Certificates and Licenses:

We prefer, but don’t require, that you are a COA, COT or COMT. But if we think you’re the perfect fit, we’ll hire you and get you certified.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may supervise and/or assist employees relative to specific tasks or projects, but has no direct reports.
