Emerson is currently seeking an Operations/Engineering Co-op for its Sherman, TX facility to begin in January of 2022. The Co-op assignment will end in August of 2022. The Co-op must have the ability to complete activities such as the following:

Aa a Operations/Engineering Co-op, You will:
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on daily tasks to include but not limited to: writing work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, tooling/fixture drawings, and other documentation as required.
  • Update value stream maps, shop floor layouts, and perform time studies.
  • Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements.
  • Participate in kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve processes.
  • Assist with lean initiatives.
  • Work as part of a team to develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges.
  • Projects as assigned by Engineering Manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • College status of a junior is preferred majoring in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Six months generalized work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Direct experience with AutoCAD and the development of drawings.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • General Lean Manufacturing knowledge is preferred.
