Emerson is currently seeking an Operations/Engineering Co-op for its Sherman, TX facility to begin in January of 2022. The Co-op assignment will end in August of 2022. The Co-op must have the ability to complete activities such as the following:
Aa a Operations/Engineering Co-op, You will:- Work with manufacturing engineering on daily tasks to include but not limited to: writing work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, tooling/fixture drawings, and other documentation as required.
- Update value stream maps, shop floor layouts, and perform time studies.
- Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements.
- Participate in kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve processes.
- Assist with lean initiatives.
- Work as part of a team to develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges.
- Projects as assigned by Engineering Manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- College status of a junior is preferred majoring in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
- Six months generalized work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Direct experience with AutoCAD and the development of drawings.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Safety conscious.
- Self-motivated and disciplined with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- General Lean Manufacturing knowledge is preferred.
