POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine is pleased to announce a faculty position available at the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) as a non-tenure track Infectious Diseases Clinician Educator. The infectious diseases clinician will provide inpatient infectious diseases consultation to adult patients, primarily at Tampa General Hospital with possible assignment to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, or the Department of Health HIV clinic.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a record of excellence in patient care and scholarly activities and possess experience working in an academic medical center environment that supports appointment in the College at rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, or the equivalent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties: The candidate will see patients and provide quality clinical care at either Tampa General Hospital or H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Outpatient duties may include ½ day clinic.
- Teaching Duties: The candidate will be expected to mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. Duties will also include education and training of medical students, residents and fellows who rotate through the infectious diseases clinical service.
- Research Duties: The candidate will participate in scholarly efforts to identify best practices for antibiotic usage, quality improvement, and management of infectious diseases. The candidate will encouraged to participate in clinical trials and other clinical research.
- Other Duties: Professional development and other duties as assigned by Program Director.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• Must have a medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Candidates must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease • Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required.
- Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. For Associate or Full Professor, normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and professional journals.
PREFERRED:
- Experience in the care of immunocompromised hosts including bone marrow transplant recipients, and individuals with various hematological malignancies and solid tumors highly desirable.
- Experience in care of transplant ID and outpatient ID desirable.
- Experience with clinical research and antibiotic stewardship is desirable.
