Background:
The Leave and Care division (LCD) provides an easily accessible benefit that helps employees and employers maintain economic stability and peace of mind in challenging times. It is estimated that up to 2/3 of Washingtonians will have an event that results in them being eligible for Paid Family and Medical Leave. Additionally, LCD will administer the WA Cares Fund (formerly Long-Term Services and Supports). Washington is poised to become the first state to establish an employee-paid insurance benefit to help offset the costs of long-term care. ESD will administer the employer premium, self-employed opt-in and exemptions pieces of this new law starting in October 2021. DSHS will administer the benefits in 2025.
About the position:
Our Leave and Care division (LCD) is seeking to hire a full-time/permanent, Office Support Supervisor 1. In this role, you will provide support to our Customer Care Team unit and report to the Operations Support Supervisor. You will support the Leave and Care Division as a working supervisor of a team of Office Assistants that perform a variety of clerical duties and tasks. As the backbone of this team, this position will develop and implement procedure changes, train new and existing staff and resolve any internal and external problems that arise between unit personnel and customers. You'll oversee the daily work of individuals and teams, and communicate instructions from managers, acting as liaison to other departments, and resolving any internal and external problems that arise between unit personnel and customers.

On a Typical Day, you would:
- Develop and implement procedures, forms, work methods, schedules, job priorities, etc. to be followed by those supervised and coordinates workflows.
- Analyze and seek solutions on process improvement and prepares recommendations for changes in procedures as well as implementation of new processes.
- Oversee staff deployment of program policies, strategies, processes, and provide input on ongoing improvements and development of information technology solutions.
- Review, assign and oversee processes and procedures within the team.
- Assign work, coach, mentor, and evaluate staff, set priorities and review work of staff.
- Lead the unit in setting goals, objectives, tracking outcomes and continually improving processes.
- Train new Office Assistant 3's on unit tasks and processes.
- Partner with direct supervisor to act as liaison to other departments.
- Resolve problems that arise between unit personnel and persons served, both within and outside the unit.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- And three (3) years of clerical experience including one year of supervisory experience.
- A combination of education and/or relevant experience.

Other Information
