Position Summary
The Benton County Public Works is seeking am Office Specialist to join the team. This position serves as the receptionist for the Avery facility. Reception functions include answering phone calls, problem solves the issues, routes calls to appropriate personnel, receives and greets visitors, reserves rooms for meetings, and reserves cars for personnel. This position also provides clerical and systems support for the Avery facility. Provides friendly and welcoming customer service.

Receptionist
Serves as first point of contact for customers on phone and in person.- Defuse upset customers and problems.
- Route calls and walk-ins to appropriate personnel.
- Takes written messages and finds staff when necessary.
- Prepare Service Requests for citizen concerns of work they want done, or concerns of work already done.
- Assist customers with Community Development, Engineering, Survey, Road, Utilities, and Facilities questions. Look up addresses, daily inspection information and tracking. Contact inspectors on status of time they will be on site. Process Building Division extension letters, date stamp and make sure they go to the inspector for approval.
- Performs cashiering for counter sales activities of copies, transit tickets, etc. Processes checks received in the mail, and delivers to appropriate staff.
- Receives, processes, and delivers incoming mail and correspondence.
- Assist with bulk mailings for departments by creating labels from database, copies and prepares final documents.
- Receive documents from the public and enter data into records.
- Review documents for accuracy; process and/or file documents according to standard procedures.
- Monitors one of the Public Works base station radios, and relays information as appropriate.
Clerical support
- Provide clerical support to department head, professional or technical staff.
- Perform word processing of correspondence, reports, or other materials on general and technical subjects; may compose correspondence in accordance with standard procedures.
- Make filing directory, clean files, new filing categories, and responsible for retrieving files.
- Responsible for chronological filing of incoming and outgoing mail.
- Organize and clean files to facilitate them being scanned.
- Maintain copiers: replace paper, track usage, remove paper jams and send and route FAXES to staff.
- Unlock and lock building doors.
Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
High school diploma or GED;- 3 years of general office or administrative support experience.

This is a FLSA non-exempt position.

- Annual salary range of $34,570.28 - $41,486.76 ; Depending on qualifications and experience.
