V.C. Summer Nuclear Power Station in Jenkinsville, SC is seeking a full-time Occupational Health Nurse to join the team. Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency are a must for this role.
This role participates in the development, implementation and administration of healthcare programs that enhance wellness through disease and accident prevention. Provides nursing care for occupational injuries and illnesses, including emergency care and referral, based upon nursing assessments, nursing diagnosis and medical directives. Assists with obtaining health and work history, interpreting results, and making referrals for positive findings. May involve case management for workers compensation programs and non-occupational disability programs including compliance with FMLA and ADA.
Coordinates and administers the day-to-day activities of the nuclear medical program to ensure compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) regulations for maintaining qualifications for station personnel with duties that have special medical requirements, such as licensed operators, crane operators, HAZMAT team members, and fire brigade members and persons required to be respirator qualified.
Maintains nursing recordkeeping system that meets legal requirements and assures confidentiality.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceMinimum Qualifications:
- RN licensure
- 3+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Working knowledge of basic Human Resources and Insurance management, a broad knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation and other disability policies and practices including applicable occupational health knowledge.
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol testing procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, families, physicians, etc., and fulfill documentation requirements
- Must have recall of clinical knowledge and critical thinking ability to effectively plan and provide care consistent with standards and regulations and deal with unique problems as they arise
- Effective computer skills
- Excellent records and data quality management skills
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Solid planning and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) preferred Medical case management experience
- Urgent care/ER experience
- Understanding of ANSI 3.4 1983, 1996, or 2013 revisions
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply.
A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience
A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.
Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionCertified by State Board of Nurse Examiners as Registered Nurse (RN); Spirometric, Audiometric certifications may be required by OSHA and NRC.
