Obstetrical Technician - PD

Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB Tech assists in patient care activities, maintains department stock, and performs surgical technician duties in the scrub role. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned.1. Education: Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED.
2. Licensure: California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) preferred. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider
status as per American Heart Association standards required. Completion of Surgical Scrub
Technician program preferred.
3. Experience: Two (2) year experience as a Scrub Technician in comparable job setting within the
last 5 years preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Precise hand/eye coordination and finger dexterity is
required in assisting with surgical procedures. Several procedures require the operation of
precise instruments.
5 Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills in dealing with physicians and staff. Ability to
speak clearly to ensure complete communication during surgical procedures.
