Overview
The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of merchandise and/or inventory planning methodologies, the ability to analyze and process large amounts of data, strong quantitative and analytical skills, and the ability to generate reporting that will inform business decisions. The Assistant Merchandise Planner will be responsible for the management of an assigned department, including the creation of merchandise plans alongside Senior Merchandise Planner, actualization of results, and an ability to identify, communicate and implement strategic business opportunities. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task with the ability to manage projects with strong attention to detail and possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
Prepare weekly recaps alongside buying team that evaluate performance of rentals, purchases, damages and utilization of assortment at the choice level- Partner with buying team weekly to effectively manage receipt units and cost
- Provide reporting and analysis to highlight important trends and/or support key initiatives
- Responsible for analysis of historical data to support forecasted trends
- Partner with Senior Merchandise Planner to manage productivity, utilization and coverage at the class level
- Reconcile bottoms-up class plans to department to align with forecast, both pre-season and in-season
- Forecast inventory demand on key item basics
- Support the inventory reduction process of slow moving and or aged inve
- Build strong partnerships thru constant communication and collaboration
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, statistics, mathematics, engineering or related fields- 1 to 2 years of previous planning, allocation or buying experience in a retail environment with hands-on knowledge of retail processes and procedures
- Strong analytical abilities, including retail math and spreadsheet proficiency
- Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions
- Must be detailed oriented
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment
- Learns new systems and processes quickly
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- A strong sense of curiosity and integrity
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business, or a related field.
