Hospital nutrition services ensure that all patients are fed according to their dietary needs and restrictions. A nutrition aide, also known as a dietary aide, assists with nutrition services and may work in a number of roles depending on the facility.

Responsibilities:
- Assists Dieticians in screening of new admissions and obtaining food preferences
- Obtains patient meal choices, ensuring they align with medically-necessary diet restrictions, if applicable
- Prepares patient trays for delivery, ensuring correct orders for each room
- Delivers patient trays at meal times
- May stock patient kitchens/supplies as needed
- Answers patient questions regarding menu and food as needed
- Maintains effective communication with patients, families and nursing care staff regarding nutrition care
- Adheres to sanitation and safety standards
- Demonstrates working knowledge of AIDET, utilizing with each patient interaction
- Regular, reliable attendance is required to ensure the highest level of patient care
- Follows hospital safety and quality standards and expectations, as it pertains to job performance and patient care

Qualifications
- Food handlers permit
- 1+ years’ experience in a hospital, LTC facility or similar experience preferred
