Job Description
Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Occupational Health Services and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to in Occupational Health Services. This AHP position works in a dynamic clinic that is responsible for the health and welfare of the UCSF workforce. The AHP may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”.
In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures (SPs) as identified by the list available on the Office of Medical Affairs and Governance (OMAG) website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and are unlikely to include ALL SPs on the list.
This position may provide patient care in approved age groups and UCSF Health licensed settings. The AHP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within all UCSF medical center locations.
UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (AHP) to be credentialed through its OMAG to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Mission Bay, and Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.

Department Description
Occupational HealthRequired Qualifications
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and in varying schedules as outlined.
- Masters’ Degree in occupational health or nursing.
- 6 months of NP experience in Occupational Health, Urgent Care, Emergency or Orthopedics.
Preferred Qualifications
- COHN or COHN-S certification
License/Certification
- Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of California
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR certification
- Current National certification in the specialty of hire (Adult, Family, or Geriatric) and provided by first day of work
- Active NP Furnishing license
- Active and transferable DEA license to California as required by your clinical specialty
- The reappointment process occurs every 2 years following initial approval of hospital privileges
- Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of California
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
