Job Profile Summary: Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, procedures and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team. Works with Cardiovascular care team to provide patient care, physician support and as a liaison between the patient and physician. Serves as an educator and consultant to staff and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Performs comprehensive physical exams that include patient history, cardiac, neurological, vascular, psychosocial and pulmonary assessments as appropriate.
  • Uses knowledge of adult cardiovascular health and related diagnostic and clinical therapies.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • First assists during cardiovascular procedures and performs independent procedures per privileges.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Provides patients, families and staff with cardiovascular education.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within team and to others including referring physicians, surgeons, radiologists and the primary cardiologist.
  • Acts as a resource to members of the healthcare team, including nurse practitioners, nurse clinicians and other support staff.
  • Collaborates with the hospital staff by consulting and rounding on Vascular patients.
  • Participates in research activities and refers patients to research studies as appropriate.

Job Requirements

• Master's degree Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program. required
• Less than 2 years Cardiovascular experience, EKG interpretation strongly preferred. required
• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire and
• BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire
• ACLS/BLS Tier 2-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Multisource preferred upon hire
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
• Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required
