Position Summary: To act as primary leader in all ministry related to kids and youth, ages birth through 12th grade. This includes developing multiple levels of volunteers through Bethel’s Leadership Pipeline and implementing the best strategies to mobilize volunteers to disciple youth. It also includes ministering to families and providing discipleship tools and parenting resources for families in the Bethel community.
Qualifications: Disciple of Lord Jesus Christ, Bethel member or willingness to become one in designated time, adhere to Bethel’s covenant of fellowship, strong verbal and written communication skills, traits of a mature believer including humility, collaboration (team player), and flexibility.
- At least two years experience working in a church, preferably over 250 regular attenders or multi-campus, as a high-level volunteer or staff person
- Prior experience working with elementary, middle and high school kids as well as their families
- Maintain a humble and teachable heart
- Able to teach God’s Word to varied age groups
- Regular participation in a Small Group, Bible Study or Institute class
- An understanding of church small groups and youth curriculum (teaching and developing)
- Previous experience of working on a team preferably operating as a team lead
- Clear communication, ability to maintain ministry plans and maintain calendars for each ministry
- Able to articulate biblical convictions around basic doctrines such as Scripture, baptism, regeneration, sin, and ecclesiology
- Working knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
Responsibilities:
- Develop leaders inside of the Leadership Pipeline as applicable to Kids and Youth Ministries
- Oversee middle school and high school youth ministry including weekly Bible Study or youth service, youth small groups, and camps and retreats
- Lead Kids Ministry which includes overseeing Sunday operations as well as ongoing family community and discipleship events like VBS, Ambassador Soccer Camps, and Milestone events from infant to high school graduation
- Minister to families by providing counseling, discipleship training, and parenting resources
- Teach or preach regularly to youth and kids
- Provide resources to parents to help them disciple their kids including parenting events, procuring resources or developing resources
- Work with other campus ministries as needed (Kids Express etc)
- Regularly attend and lead ministry events outside of normal working hours (for example, camps, retreats, evening classes or special events)
- Partner with parents and volunteers to disciple all kids and youth at the Prosser campus
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings
- Attend and participate in all multi-campus kids and youth ministry team meetings
- Maintain all guidelines and standards related to safety and cleanliness
- Ensure volunteer background checks are completed and current
- Recruit a leadership team to help guide each ministry
- Ensure that curriculum and volunteer schedules are complete and up-to-date
- Submit to the leadership of the campus on how to divide energy and leadership between Kids and Youth ministries
- Preaching in Sunday morning service as requested by the Campus Pastor
- Other duties as assigned
