The Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ is a year-long residency built upon evidenced-based curriculum. During the program, nurse residents will participate in a series of learning and work experiences that are geared toward transition to a competent professional. At the end of the program, nurse residents will have improved confidence, competence, prioritization, communication skills, and decreased stress levels. The evidenced-based curriculum delivers on three key areas:

POSITION SUMMARY:
- Under the general supervision of the assigned R.N. Preceptor, the newly licensed R.N.is assigned to patient care activities based upon the individuals learning foundation and their status as a novice nurse. The Novice R.N. is responsible for the identification of needs, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/License/Certification:
- Must have CA RN License or be scheduled to take the NCLEX and have Interim Permit from the CA Board of Nursing.
- Must have and maintain current BLS certification prior to hands-on patient care
Experience/Skills:
- Individuals should have successful completion of orientation to area which assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Units in which New Grads have the opportunity to be assigned to:
- Nursing Float Pool (Rotate through Med/Surg, Telemetry, Post-Partum and Flex-Care)
- Clinical Decision Unit
- Telemetry
