Job Description
As part of the CLIENT Wireless 5G Core Network Team, the 5G – IP Network Engineer will join a team of passionate engineers with start-up spirit to test, deploy, and debug DISH’s standalone 5G network. The candidate should bring innovation and strong execution skills to the group, as well as the ability to both teach and work in a team environment. Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories: • Participate in testing, selecting and deploying solution elements for a nationwide greenfield network buildout • Ensure that solutions adhere to defined standards and best practices and/or assist in the development of these standards and best practices. • Routinely research, analyze, test, retest, and troubleshoot complex problems. • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines, both as an individual contributor and team player. • Participate in knowledge transfer, documentation and information sharing while staying abreast of new technology/technical areas. • Other duties as assigned. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS A successful 5G – IP Network Engineer will have the following: • Solid Understanding of routing protocols, firewalls, TCP/IP networking, and Sub-netting with operations experience. • Can design and develop, plan, and implement LANs and WANs using routers, switches and network security devices. • Strong Scripting Skills o Experience developing operational tools in 1 or more of following: ? Python, Perl, Bash • Linux background o Experienced using a Linux desktop or jump server as an operational support platform o Familiar with configuration and operation of applications using open source services such as nginx, postgresql, docker, rsyslog • Extensive design and operational support experience in three or more of the following areas: o Service Provider IP routing ? MPLS and/or Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) ? eBGP and iBGP ? IS-IS o Network Deployment and Operations Automation ? Ansible playbook based network device configuration/operation ? Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP)– design and configuration of tooling to support a multi-vendor ZTP platform o IPv6 ? SLAAC and DHCPv6 o MAP and/or Carrier Grade NAT solutions ? NAT44, NAT64, 464XLAT, MAP-T, MAP-E o Network Timing and Synchronization ? PTP 1588v2 o SDN based Traffic Engineering ? Experience implementing Traffic Engineering using 1 or more SDN Controllers • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred, or six or more years of professional experience.
