Summary:
The Nephrology Nurse Coordinator position coordinates the clinical care and management for patients with kidney disease and assist the Nephrologist in the clinical supervision of patients. This individual is responsible for conducting patient assessments, providing patient care, and educating patients to the various needs of their condition under of the direction of the Nephrologist. May be delegated other tasks needed in the Transplant Nephrology Clinic. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Approximately two to four years progressively more responsible related work experience in the continuum of care in the Nephrology area to gain advanced knowledge and skill in nursing procedures, standards of care and research is required. Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing is required. Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required upon hire.
Other information:
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with dialysis staff, physicians, ancillary staff, patients and families. Analytical skills necessary to implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patients' mental or physical well-being. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care, resolving patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families, often during stressful situations.
