Job Description:
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner exercises a high degree of professional responsibility, accountability and independent judgement in the performance of advanced nursing practice. Possesses in-depth knowledge of the care and treatment of neonatal patients with specialized needs.
Education and Credentials required:
Master’s degree with clinical emphasis and/or has graduated from a formal post-basic nursing education program resulting in certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State. Approved to perform medical acts by the joint sub-committee of the NC Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners. NRP Certification.
Work experience required:
Three years nursing experience, two of which have been in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
