Job Description
Mill River Union High School seeks a dynamic, passionate music educator who can work with all levels and types of students (grades PK-6). This music educator must be willing to collaborate, grow professionally, and be able to equip elementary students with solid foundational musical skills and techniques that will continue to propel our high-caliber music program forward. A successful candidate will be joining a district which values and supports the arts and is currently growing their program. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, teachers, administration, and parents.2. Ability to provide high-quality instruction and assessment to music students that inspires a love for music and recruits high numbers of students into the performance program.3. Ability to use technology and strong communication strategies to support the needs of students, staff, and parents.4. Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.5.
Ability to teach all band instruments as well as vocal/choral technique to beginning student musicians. 6. Piano skills preferred.7. Current Vt.
teaching license or the credentials to acquire one.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but are not limited to the following): 1. General Music Instruction PK-6.2. Teach recorder to all 3rd graders in preparation for beginning Band Instruments in 4th grade.3. Direct 4-6th grade Band and provide pull out lesson instruction at both elementary schools.4.
Direct 5-6th grade chorus at both elementary schools. Obtain and rehearse with accompanist for school concerts.4. Conducting and Accompanying experience preferred.5. Ongoing collaboration and teamwork with other members of the MRUUSD Music Department.6.
Work with community groups and parent groups to support the Music program7. Knowledge of proficiency based learning as it applies to the teaching of music.8. Knowledge and or experience in using Responsive Classroom techniques9. Collaborate with classroom teachers around project based learning
