Job Summary/Purpose: The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician II of Clinical Neurophysiology Services reports Under indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator, EEG Unit Leaders or designee, the Inpatient EEG Tech II records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system.
Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology; or eligible for National Board Certification; or any combination of education and experience that warrants eligibility for National Board Certification required. Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
