Job Description
What will I be doing?
The Analyst will occupy a position central to the success of IRI’s consumer & shopper solutions within the Americas Commercial team.
Externally, the Analyst will both “own” client relationships as well as support other members of the team with analytics and deliverables. Owning relationships means starting with a discussion of client business issues, connecting the issues to a research plan/project framework, match the issues to a custom IRI consumer & shopper solution, write the proposals, work hands-on to execute the project and finally, delivering insights that will have measurable client business impact.
Internally, they will work with a cross functional team including the client account manager and subject matter experts. Having the out-going personality to foster collaborative internal relationships will be essential to the Analyst’s success.
The Analyst will have a big “sand-box” in which to function in terms of analytical tools, client contacts and client issues. From a tool perspective, they will work extensively with IRI’s revolutionary web-based report generating tools and advanced panel queries/analysis.
Key client business issues include category and brand performance drivers, analysis of innovation performance, consumer segmentation and targeting. The current economic environment requires that the Analyst bring fresh thinking and innovation to identify/address current and future consumer trends.
The Analyst will be well-positioned to add value to IRI and the client from their first day. He/she will tackle substantive client issues and participate in “writing the game rules” for a growing and dynamic business practice.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- 5+ years of retail or CPG experience or a high degree of passion and comfort with the retail and CPG manufacturer space.
- Experience with consumer panel data or customer data is required; experience in survey/segmentation, market structure and testing methodologies is a plus. Experience may be gained in one or more of the environments below:
o CPG manufacturer
o Market Research
o Retail
o Top-tier consulting firm
o CRM-oriented software firm
- Strong analytical skills, linking client business issues to analysis and the ability to mine analytical results for insights.
- Ability to craft a compelling story based on the analytical insights and good presentation skills are key requirements.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail and follow up, high quality standards, timeliness and accuracy across project milestones.
- Proven skills to maintain focus and poise amidst concurrent and competing priorities.
- Strong experience or potential to foster internal and external consultative client partnerships
- The poise and presence to present to multiple business functions and levels of leadership with relevance and credibility
- Expert in PowerPoint and Excel
- Proven curiosity and skills to acquire, assimilate and new information with little direction
- Skilled at presenting technical subject matter to non-technical audiences; excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability/drive to make decisions with conviction in ambiguous and fast-moving environments
- Undergraduate degree is required; Advanced degree is a plus
