Job Description
Technologist Assistant
Purpose: Assists technologist to maintain patient safety and quality patient through put and care.
Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent must possess good communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care background. Must be detail oriented and have a good situational awareness. Must have clean driving record.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to do walk and stand a good portion of your shift, assist with heavy lifting up to 500 lbs. Must pass pre-employment physical and MRI safety screening form.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but not limited to.
- Obtain medical/surgical history from patient this is to ensure there are no contraindications for the patient entering the MR exam room. This aspect of the job requires attention to detail and knowledge in MRI safety. You will need to communicate with the technologist; any questions arise.
- Monitor and adjust patient scheduling to ensure effective workflow, alerts supervisor when patients have been waiting more than 15 minutes or schedule is running behind.
- Explain the exam to the patient.
- Work closely with technologist to ensure patient safety at all phases of the exam. You will be working with a very powerful magnet. Some medical implants cannot go into the MRI environment. If you or the patient has, any of these significant injuries could occur.
- Assist technologist getting exam room ready and getting the patient onto the table and positioned. This aspect of the job will require patient lifting. Assisting with IV placement. Proper equipment selection, and linen changes.
- Phlebotomy skills- not required but may be asked to train into this area.
- Scan necessary documents into PACS, edit study details.
- Assist getting paperwork/patient schedule ready the following day.
- Be available/willing to run to main office for supplies, paperwork and patients
- Be an insurable drive of the company van, this is use to commute supplies and patients.
- Any other duties necessary to ensure patient safety and maintain workflow.
- Stock supplies, clean, and empty laundry at the end of shift.
- This job requires attention to detail, situational awareness, and ability to talk and listen. There are some medical diagnosis and implants that may make it difficult or impossible for you to work around the Magnetic Resonance fields. As they can pose a safety issue for yourself, your device or those around you. Examples of these devices are but not limited to; aneurysm clips, hearing aids, cochlear implant, pacemaker, ICDs. Diseases uncontrolled seizure disorder, A fib, syncope, or if you are on any medications that might alter your mental clarity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
