Job Description:

Responsible for administrative and clinical functions regarding MRI procedures.

Three areas of Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Inside the Facility

  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments.
  • Documents no shows and cancellations.
  • Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Verifies patient demographics.
  • Takes patient medical history.
  • Obtains eligibility, benefits, prior authorization and pre-certification on MRI tests.
  • Makes sure patient has completed patient safety screening forms.
  • Collects and deposits MRI payments prior to MRI being preformed
  • Requests sedatives from physicians for claustrophobic patients
  • Escorts patients to the MRI department.
  • Make certain patients have everything they need for future care (e.g. transportation forms, burn CD, mail CD, fax reports and any other necessary paperwork).

In MRI Truck (Outside) :

  • Workers Comp scheduling and putting together all necessary WC paperwork
  • Check patients’ chart and mark exams in MRI book with an “R” when report has been attached to chart.
  • Maintain upkeep of inside MRI truck. This includes empty trash, sweep, stocking sheets, disinfecting each night.
  • Assist patients walking to scan room. Help transfer patients as needed. Help patients dress for exam.
  • Draws up contrast for MRI tech.

Additional Duties

  • Maintains and updates current information on physician’s schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and takes appropriate actions.
  • Answers questions regarding patient appointments.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information.
  • Must act as the main communicator between the MRI department and all other staff and facilities. You represent EmergeOrtho and the MRI department.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Courses in medical terminology and clinical and diagnostic procedures are preferable. Completion of a nursing attendant program, medical assisting program or clinical coursework in a radiology technician program is recommended or work experience in a healthcare setting.
