Department DescriptionThe UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, the top ranked public school of public health in the nation, is comprised of seven academic departments, one academic program, the Dean’s Office and other centrally-administrated units such as Finance, Communications and Human Resources. Position DescriptionThis position provides administrative support to the Gillings MPH practicum program across all delivery formats (residential, online, and distance) and is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and reporting on students’ practicum experiences. The person in this position will have significant interaction with students, community partners, faculty mentors, and academic coordinators. The position reports to the MPH practicum director. Duties:
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Position DescriptionThis position provides administrative support to the Gillings MPH practicum program across all delivery formats (residential, online, and distance) and is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and reporting on students’ practicum experiences. The person in this position will have significant interaction with students, community partners, faculty mentors, and academic coordinators. The position reports to the MPH practicum director. Duties:
- Research, cultivate, vet, distribute, track, and archive practicum opportunities
- Provide resources and leads for students to identify practicum opportunities including creating a weekly Practicum Opportunities Newsletter externally sourcing at least 15 opportunities per week to assist students in practicum search
- Manage current practicum opportunities database, including reviewing and publishing new submissions, removing outdated and filled submissions, and communicating with community partners to keep them updated on the status of their submissions
- Maintain past practica database
- Maintain community partners database
- Maintain MPH Practicum webpage
- Maintain MPH Practicum Resources Sakai site
- Vet selected practica to ensure that they meet Gillings MPH practicum requirements
- Grant approval for students to begin their practica
- Provide guidance and instructions for the practicum process to students, preceptors, and faculty mentors at the beginning, middle, and end of the experience
- Coordinate onboarding requirements
- Monitor students’ practicum experiences and problem-solves as needed
- Disseminate, collect, and analyze practicum evaluations
- Triage communications sent to the mphpracticum@unc.edu inbox and trouble-shoot and mediate questions and concerns from students, community partners, faculty, and staff with oversite from MPH practicum director
- Support recruiting and networking activities at external meetings and events
- Coordinate panelists and help with content, logistics, setup, and clean-up for practicum events
- Seek and integrate feedback from students, community partners, and Gillings faculty and staff and support ongoing quality improvement efforts for the practicum program
- Maintain practicum tracking spreadsheets
- Assist with practicum reports and presentations to key stakeholders and for accreditation purposes
- Assist with manuscript writing related to the MPH practicum
- Other duties as assigned.
