As a Residential Banking Underwriter ll, you will complete a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and government guidelines and standards.You will be responsible for a variety of tasks including evaluating the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loan and ultimate ensure and “investor” quality loan product. Additionally, are expected to handle exception items and resolve complex issues and be available to processors and mortgage bankers for general guideline interpretations on specific loan files. You will build a great rapport with clients and fellow associates, and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements. Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • 5+ years of mortgage industry experience
  • 3+ years underwriting experience

Skills and Abilities:Below is a general list of desired skills and abilities; this is not an exhaustive list.
  • Thorough grasp of state and federal regulations is required as well as a solid understanding of: HMDA, Regulation Z, Regulation B; the FHLMC, FNMA, FHA rules and processes
  • Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet Browsers
  • Ability to act as FHA, DE, and/or VA Automatic, and SAR Underwriter
  • Thorough grasp of state and federal regulations is required as well as a solid understanding of: HMDA, Regulation Z, Regulation B; the FHLMC, FNMA, FHA rules and processes
  • Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to read reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to clients and associates.
  • Must be able to deal with ambiguity, think critically, solve problems creatively, plan and meet deadlines, demonstrate strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Strong analytical ability to synthesize and communicate complex information.
  • Organization skills with the ability to utilize time efficiently.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting with hours ranging from 8am to 5pm core schedule with frequent flexibility for start and ending times along with after-hours assistance for approvals, projects, rollouts and upgrades.
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 10 hours).
  • Must be able to travel occasionally for work assignments or training – less than 10% of the time.
