Molecular Technician

Piper Clinical Solutions is currently seeking a Molecular Technician in the area of Sterling, VA to join a new start-up laboratory that specializes in tackling public health challenges. The Molecular Technician will work to support the COVID testing laboratory services.

Responsibilities for the Molecular Technician:

• Receive, sort, and enter clinical specimens into the laboratory information system
• Perform COVID testing using saliva-based qPCR tests
• Maintenance of the laboratory including instrument calibration, bench sanitization, etc.
• Upkeep of laboratory databases and notebooks
• Support in the development, testing, and implementation of laboratory-developed tests during the growth of the test menu

Qualifications for the Molecular Technician:

• 
  Experience with Micro Pipetting
• Ability to work in a BSL-2 laboratory environment
• Proficient skills in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques (DNA extraction, qPCR, sterile technique, etc.)
• 1 (one) to 2 (two) years of Biology or related experience (Manual PCR experience)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology or related field

Compensation for the Molecular Technician:

• 
  Salary range: $45,000 - $55,000 (based on relevant experience)
