Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct recruiting of prospective student veterans and military dependents.
- Maintain effective and frequent communication with prospective students and applicants regarding admission and enrollment processes; including admission, financial aid, housing, student life, and academic programs. Communication modes include telephone calls, emails, texts, letters, and informational flyers/brochures.
- Input and maintain student and applicant data. Review, process, and evaluate applications and transcripts for admission and academic scholarship recommendations.
- Cultivate relationships with local/regional military installations for recruitment purposes.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on current recruiting trends and social media presence.
- Provide general support for Admissions Office including admissions presentations, campus tours, open houses, orientations, college fairs, school visits, and other recruitment events on- and off-campus. Includes evening and weekend hours.
- Coordinate student veteran support activities and resources.
- Advise and refer student veterans to campus resources including personal counseling, disability services, financial aid, business office, registrar, veteran certification, academic advising, and student campus activities.
- Acts as the primary contact for veteran services and issues related to military-affiliated students (current and prospective). Provide staff advisor support to the Student Veteran Association (SVA) and sit on the Veteran Success Committee to devise data-based best practices for student veteran support on campus, academic progress, and career preparation.
- Develop and implement campus-wide education for faculty and staff on student veteran-related topics and Green Zone training.
- Assist with creating and updating student veteran brochures, forms, Veterans Services webpage, and social media pages.
- Oversees the work of VA-sponsored work study staff within the Veterans Services Center.
Collaborate with the Registrar, Business Office and Financial Aid for the facilitation of VA benefits.
Represents Maryville College at various local, state, regional and national conferences, meetings and fairs related to veteran services.
Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, and students within the Maryville College community.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a group.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities for MC staff.
Position supervises student assistants only, following all College policies regarding student workers, their hiring, assigning and directing work, assessing performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) om a specified discipline(s) from four-year college or university. Experience in recruiting at the collegiate level preferred. Preference will be given to all applicants of Veterans of the Armed Forces.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Basic knowledge of computers required. Previous experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) products. Ability and willingness to learn office specific software applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid Tennessee Drivers license is required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be highly motivated, pleasant, and polished. Strong communication skills are mandatory.
Travel:
Employee must be willing to travel frequently during fall including overnight trips for College-related recruitment activities.
