Job Description
This position will be part of the CCB Operational Risk Management (ORM) organization that provides oversight for Consumer & Community Banking businesses and functions including: Auto Finance, Consumer & Business Banking, Card Services, Home Lending, Connected Commerce, Digital Services, Consumer Operations, and Support Functions (Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, etc.). The ORM function supports the development and maintenance of a strong operational risk management culture by working closely with the Business, Technology, Legal, Risk, Controls, Compliance, and Audit functions to provide expertise on operational risk matters.
Operational Risk Management professionals independently assess and, as appropriate, provide credible challenge of 1st LOD risk management activities and escalate any new emerging risks or issues for a product, service, legal entity, and/or function. ORM professionals facilitate and monitor risk management practices; identify, analyze, measure, and report on Risks and Issues; and execute risked-based independent monitoring and deep dives and evaluate testing results of 1LOD risk management activities from an operational risk perspective. ORM professionals are expected to have a sound knowledge operational risk together with a good understanding of market structures and products, or technologies expertise.
The role is highly visible to senior management and offers the opportunity to work across JPMorgan Chase & Co. To be successful in this role, you will require knowledge of operational risk and key risk management skills, along with an ability execute on a broad book of work including risk assessment and related monitoring and creation and oversight of operational risk testing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of a complex Operational Risk program to manage operational risk exposure in a dynamic and evolving area of the firm
- Understand the risk profile as assessed by the business, key risk & performance indicators, and other controls to identify negative trends and potential control gaps
- Provide an independent, objective view of the business and/or function control environment, mitigation strategies and emerging risk
- Establish monitoring and testing, in coordination with the CCOR Testing team, to provide holistic operational risk coverage and evaluate controls to identify control breaks or gaps, and escalate and raise issues as needed.
- Ability to assess and aggregate risks across different lines of business and present results to relevant stakeholders in CCOR and the business
- Have the ability to work both independently and as a core team member, engaging line of defense and functional support colleagues across multiple disciplines (i.e. Technology, Risk Management, Legal, Controls, etc.), exhibiting strong relationship management and negotiation skills
Qualifications:
- U.S. Military Veteran with 4+ years of service
- 0-7 years of separation from military service
- Experienced professional with a strong background in operational risk, technology risk, compliance, control, or audit
- Incumbents typically have a minimum of 5 years banking experience and 5 years in Risk Management, Compliance, Control, Legal, Audit, or Technology Risk
- Legal Degree, Bachelor's degree in relevant technical or quantitative fields (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Computer Science, etc.) or comparable work experience required
- Technical qualifications a plus, including understanding of data analytics, incident management, application testing, quality control, and change and release management
- Ability to analyze risk concentration areas, risk profiles, and leverage data from internal and external sources in order to comprehensively assess risk.
- Proven track record of fostering relationships across all levels and operating through influence, with the confidence to formulate, advocate and drive ideas forward
- Excellent decision maker with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and attention to detail required
