BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:The Metalworking Specialist Manager will be responsible for leading and coaching Metalworking Specialists based on a geographical area to maintain and improve MSC’s leadership position within the metalworking market and our existing customer base. This position will coach their team of Metalworking Specialists to reinforce critical trained skills and continued technical metalworking development activity to deliver excellent technical support to our customers, while driving cost out of their manufacturing processes. This position is responsible to drive strong engagement with our key metalworking suppliers in the assigned geographical area. This position is responsible for achieving budgeted sales growth goals within the metalworking categories in the assigned geographical area. This position will be responsible to assist with major metalworking presentations, continuous improvement reviews and deal negotiations.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maximizes sales growth and profitability for metalworking sales within assigned region.
  • Implements the metalworking customer segment plans within assigned region with support from the field.
  • Develops and manages the Senior MW Specialists and Metalworking Specialists under the guidance of the National Sales Manager, MW or MW Sales Manager within assigned region.
  • Perform MW Specialist duties for assigned local branch by providing ongoing technical support.
  • Supports Market Managers under the guidance of the National Sales Manager, MW or MW Sales Manager in the development and implementation MW growth strategies within assigned region.
  • Develops strong regional supplier relationships to support local MW growth initiatives.
  • Coordinates regional delivery of continued metalworking training to the metalworking sales team.
  • Supports the continued execution of solutions based selling to drive metalworking sales growth. (Control Point, VMI, CMI, etc.)
  • Works cross-functionally with various MSC teams to drive and support metalworking sales goals and initiatives.
  • Identifies and prioritizes with the assistance of various functional areas, opportunities for improvement.
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of an MSC MW Sales Manager, as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct, to include hiring, termination, review, and development of Associates.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years metalworking supplier or Industrial distribution experience in a technical related or sales related position is required.
  • Proven track record of achieving goals and demonstrating progressive growth in job competencies and responsibilities.
  • Manufacturing experience or knowledge preferred.
  • Experience leading teams, projects, or working cross functionally.

SKILLS:
  • Understanding of metalworking customer segment.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the ability to work cross functionally.
  • Strong proven leadership skills. Rewards success and holds associates accountable for performance.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor others with the skill to drive change.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time may be required.
