Essential Job Duties:

  • Checks all email accounts daily.
  • Provide individual mental health counseling.
  • Address bullying/harassment—to refer to school Anti-bullying Counselor.
  • Provide education (prevention and awareness via classes/presentation on topics such. as anger/stress management, cyber safety, etc.).
  • Develop youth leadership and empowerment skills.
  • Facilitate restorative justice and conflict resolution.
  • Provide crisis assistance (i.e. family death).
  • Provide mental health resources.
  • Liaison to/for community resources; next steps involving short term and /or long-term therapy or intervention; advocacy.
  • Provide small group mental health counseling (i.e. anger/stress management, male/female issues, self-esteem, grief, relationships, etc.)
  • Address mental health and mental illness
  • Address risky behaviors (i.e. alcohol/drug use)—assess and refer to SAC
  • Address depression and anxiety (i.e. suicide ideation)
  • Address abuse (i.e. physical, emotional, sexual)
  • Maintain and track documentation of mental health support for students
  • Ensure programs, services and activities that prepare youth for success, promoting safety of member and quality of programs at all times.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Identify opportunities for implementing new programs/groups to benefit student members.
  • Monitor and evaluate program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests and participate in staff meetings.
  • To supervise members and ensure a healthy and safe environment.
  • Recommend and requisition supplies needed for therapeutic projects and or activities.
  • Work with staff on special events and facilitate programs in any department when needed.
  • Performs all administrative tasks as directed.
  • Adhere to all program and school activity policies and procedures.
  • Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member’s parents and other interested parties to assist in resolving problems.
  • Complete any required or mandated trainings and/or professional development.

Other Job Duties:

To act as a resource to youth in need of assistance.

To meet their individual mental health, heath care, and other physical, and social academic needs.

To coordinate mental health support with school/SBYSP office personnel and collaborate with community resources as needed.

Timely & thorough documentation and data entry.

To assist with various office tasks and special projects as assigned.

Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates all programs and activities within the Core Program areas including education, arts & crafts, trips and game day.

Develop and foster healthy relationships, with all members, at the assigned shared space.

. Requirements:

Primary Role: To provided individual, group, and family supportive counseling to at-risk youth and their families presenting with psycho/social difficulties.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (MSW, MS, MA) in clinical mental health or closely related field required.
  • State licensure and certification required.
  • Experience working with youth and families.
  • One to two years of counseling experience with adolescent or school age children preferred, knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrate understanding and appreciation of diversity.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel to all school based and CCHN sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is a plus. Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
  • Ability to collaborate with school and community clubs and organizations.
