Memory Care - Personal Care AttendantSCOPE: All Caregivers of Westmont Living communities are key team members, maintaining full accountability for fulfillment of the mission of Westmont Living at their respective communities. This position is responsible for the well being of assisted living residents on services. This includes assisting residents with activities of daily living.
Position Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community Must have passed post offer health physical, TB test and drug screen.
- Must have current basic first aid, or obtain within first 30 days of hire.
Must have education and experience requirements as required by state licensing. Completion of state specific required training, completed in mandated time frame. Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or bend for numerous or long periods of time Able to lift 50 pounds and push, pull, or transfer 100 pounds.
- Must be able to speak, read and understand English
- Able to work with residents in a respectful, compassionate manner
Core Responsibilities:
This position provides for a high level of customer service to both residents and team members. This is accomplished though promoting Westmont Living’s Service Promise and Service Standards. This position is responsible for performing personal services for residents needing non-medical assistance with essential daily functions. Depending on needs specified in each resident’s assessment, all or some of the following personal services will be provided. Personal Services- Assisting residents with ADL tasks including: housekeeping tasks, making beds, serving meals, assisting with personal laundry, assisting with showers, assisting with toileting, dressing, undressing, oral care, hair care, transfers and ambulation and any other needs addressed on the resident service plan.
- Keeping environment safe and clean for all residents.
- Observing residents for safety, and report any change of condition or other pertinent information to supervisor
- Report any significant incidents to direct supervisor, Resident Services Director, RN Consultant or Executive Director
- Actively participate and effectively carry out fire drills following the R-A-C-E philosophy. o R- Rescue or Remove people in immediate danger
Compass Rose Caregiver (OR) REV. 12/12
Provide companionship to resident (reading, talking, assist with phone calls and letter writing). Report and document personal services rendered and monitor resident condition Exhibit the proper and timely response to all resident and family concerns Assist residents to activities and actively promotes resident activity participation. Participate in activity programs designed by Lifestyle Director. This includes leading activities, identifying resident preferences for activities and notifying the Lifestyle Director, providing verbal prompts or hands-on guidance/assistance during activities, etc- Carrying and knowing how to use pagers and walkie-talkies.
- Respond to emergency signal/call system.
- Provides mentor training and shadowing for new caregivers
- Take resident vital signs, Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) and all RN delegated or taught task duties in accordance with OR regulations
- NOC shift caregivers must stay awake and perform additional services as assigned, which may include additional laundry, housekeeping of common areas, filing, setting up of dining room, assistance with self-administration of medications, etc.
- Participate in activity programs designed by Compass Rose Lifestyle Coordinator or Compass Rose Program Director. This includes leading activities, identifying resident preferences for activities and notifying the Compass Rose Program Director, providing verbal prompts or hands on guidance/assistance during activities, etc.

Organizational Structure
- The Compass Rose Caregiver reports to the Compass Rose Program Director or Resident Nurse Consultant (where applicable)
- The Compass Rose Program Director reports Resident Services Director
- The Resident Services Director reports to the Executive Director
- The Executive Director reports to the Regional Director of Operations
