Medical Technologist II
Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance, validation, and reporting of laboratory test results which are utilized for the purpose of prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research. Under the direct supervision of the Director, Manager or Supervisor, the MT II is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled. The MT II may work under the guidance of the MT III or MT IV. Employee must meet the qualifications as defined in CLIA requirements 42 CFR Part 493 for one ormore of the following roles based on education, experience and responsibilities, performed by specific incumbent, within the job: Technical Consultant, Technical Supervisor, General Supervisor and/or Testing personnel. Department will designate and maintain records for individual specific qualifications.
Medical Lab Technician II
Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance and reporting of routine and specialized laboratory test results used for the purpose of prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research. Under the supervision of the Director, Manager or Supervisor, the MLT II resolves testing problems with minimal assistance, provides guidance to others in the laboratory as needed, and is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled. The MLT II may work under the guidance of the Medical Technologist and MLT III. Employee must meet the qualifications as defined in CLIA requirements 42 CFR Part 493 for one or more of the following roles based on education, experience and responsibilities, performed by specific incumbent, within the job: Technical Consultant, Technical Supervisor, General Supervisor and/or Testing personnel. Department will designate and maintain records for individual specific qualifications.
Schedule
Friday and Saturday 10:30pm - 7am Every other week
Medical Technologist II
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program that was, at the time of graduation, either NAACLS approved or approved pursuant to TN Rule 1200-06-02-.04. Educational requirements may be waived for applicants possessing HEW certification from passing the Health and Human Services proficiency examination on or before September 1, 1997 and who meet criteria outlined in TN Rule 1200-06-02-.22.
- Master's degree in Clinical Lab Science accepted in lieu of experience
- Associate’s Degree and completion of NAACLS approved Medical Laboratory Technician program or approved pursuant to TN Rule 1200-06-02-.04 required. Educational requirements may be waived for applicants possessing HEW certification from passing the Health and Human Services proficiency examination on or before September 1, 1997 and who meet criteria outlined in TN Rule 1200-06-02- .22.
Medical Technologist II
- Two (2) years of medical technologist experience required. Two (2) years of relevant clinical medical laboratory technician experience may be considered for one (1) year of medical technologist experience
- Master's degree in Clinical Lab Science accepted in lieu of experience
- Recent generalist, hematology or chemistry experience is preferred
- Three (3) years experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required
- Recent generalist, hematology or chemistry experience is preferred
Medical Technologist II
- Tennessee licensure as Medical Technologist-General, Special Analyst or Categorical in assigned
laboratory section preferred - Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCPor AMT required within six (6) months of hire if not
licensed - Certification in assigned discipline as a Categorical Specialist by ASCP is preferred
Medical Lab Technician II
- Tennessee licensure as Medical Laboratory Technician-General or as a Technician or as a Technician in assigned laboratory section required or eligible. Licensure must be obtained prior to working in lab independently
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT preferred
