Responsibilities
The Medical Science Liaison Field Director is a scientific, field-based professional that will be the primary contact for the MSL program on all matters related to the project and provide leadership, management, financial and operational oversight to the MSL team across the country.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee selection, evaluation of employees, and minimize turnover through execution of retention strategy
- Lead and manage a team of MSLs ensuring the team executes the MSL strategic and tactical plans efficiently, effectively and compliantly while following all Syneos Health and client corporate policies and procedures
- Participate in the development of a customer-centric strategic MSL engagement plan and supporting tactical activities to support Medical Affair’s goals and objectives.
- Collaborate on development of performance goals and objectives at all levels and appropriate measures/metrics to ensure achievement.
- Plan and participate in key contract-related team meetings. Responsible for: setting up the meeting, contacting participants, preparing agenda, providing pre-meeting information, having up-to-date reports available, communication, and action items identified. Responsible for follow up of action items and keeping other team members aware of progress.
- Coordinate all training, activities, communications of the field based MSLs, and assist in the professional development of the team by being a source of information and guidance.
- Work closely with client Leadership Syneos Health leadership to ensure alignment on goals, objectives as well as adherence to policy (i.e. combined leadership team meetings, trainings where appropriate and internal meetings where appropriate).
- Assist in the development of a 30/60/90 day Launch Plan and business plans for each territory
- Conduct Field Visits and MSL assessments
Job Requirements
- Doctorate level scientific degree is required
- 5+ years’ experience as manager of field based MSLs
- 3+ years of experience as an MSL preferably in Dermatology
- Pharmaceuticals launch experience and working with headquarter medical affairs teams
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated effectiveness to work cross-divisionally as well as independently
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation/platform skills.
- Excellent computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office, Access and Excel
- Ability to travel and possess a valid driver's license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified
